OverseasChinese at home and abroad are all concerned about the development of the coronavirusepidemic since the COVID-19 outbreak. The Overseas Chinese Affairs Office ofXiamen Municipal People’s Government, the General Office of the CPPCC XiamenMunicipal Committee, Xiamen Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, XiamenFederation of Industry and Commerce (Xiamen General Chamber of Commerce),Xiamen Committee of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (InternationalChamber of Commerce Xiamen Committee), Xiamen Overseas Friendship Association,Xiamen Committee of the Red Cross, and Xiamen Committee of China CharityFederation put forward a joint initiative of donation which calls on overseasChinese to support our motherland in fighting and winning this "battlewithout smoke".
Accordingto the deployment of Xiamen Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, XMFSC activelyresponded and immediately drafted the proposal that called on Overseas ChineseCommunities which settled in Xiamen Liaison Headquarters of Overseas ChineseCommunities to donate. After receiving the proposal, the overseas Chinese communitiesresponded actively by donating money and materials, and even "bought outlocal masks" to support our motherland. In order to avoid getting held upin the immigration, XMFSC immediately contacted Xiamen Committee of the RedCross and Xiamen Customs to learn about the tax-free customs clearance ofmedical supplies, and strengthened the synergy with Xiamen Committee of theUnited Front Work Department and Xiamen Federation of Returned OverseasChinese. All the efforts were made to provide express customs clearanceservices for the donations of the Overseas Chinese Communities and ensure thatthe donated supplies would arrive at Xiamen quickly.
Atpresent, 23 Overseas Chinese Communities from Philippines, Canada, UnitedStates of America, Australia, Brazil, United Kingdom, Japan, Malaysia,Singapore, Cambodia and France have participated in the donation. Some of thedonated supplies have arrived in China in batches.
